Karen Ann Karina is the owner of Sanctuary Green Natural Therapeutics, LLC.  She is a Natural Therapeutics Specialist and Board Certified practitioner of therapeutic massage and bodywork since 2009.

Practicing and teaching as a certified Hatha Yoga instructor since 1996 in corporate settings and privately, she helped to organize the First Annual Southwest Yoga Conference in Albuquerque in 1998.  She also assisted world-renowned yoga teacher, Rodney Yee, at the Second Annual Southwest Yoga Conference in Austin, Texas in 1999.

Karen offers Hatha Yoga as an adjunct therapy to injury rehabilitation and pain management.  A native of Chicago, Karen has lived in Albuquerque since 1997.  After a 20-year career as an executive assistant for management consultants and executive recruiters, she moved to Albuquerque to recreate a professional and recreational lifestyle in sync with her passions.  Karen attended Chicago’s Temple of Kriya Yoga in 1996; as well as Albuquerque’s High Desert Yoga teacher training program with Kim Schwartz in 1999.  She attended Albuquerque’s New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in 2008.

While Karen’s style of massage therapy is integrative and intuitive, clients often compliment her on her passion inherent in her work.  Her skills as a seasoned Hatha Yoga instructor add yet another dimension to the overall wellness approach to healing.  Partnering with clients in their healthcare to develop a treatment plan that addresses their individual goals and comfort levels, each bodywork session is unique as is each Hatha Yoga experience.

Primary bodywork modalities are deep tissue massage, myofascial release, structural integration, trigger point therapy to mobilize fascia (connective tissue) and to restore natural balance to the musculoskeletal system.  Karen blends elements of reflexology, craniosacral unwinding, shiatsu and polarity therapy into her treatments as well.  Empathic, compassionate and understanding, she helps to restore balance and reduce or eliminate pain from motor vehicle related trauma and post-operative conditions.  Her client base ranges from athletes to pregnant women to geriatrics.  Because of her own sensitivities and that of her clients, only 100% pure organic ingredients are used during the bodywork treatments.

Karen has been a professional member of The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 2015; and, prior to that, she was a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) since 2009.

Karen currently teaches Hatha Yoga at Orange Yoga in Los Ranchos and through the years has taught at the following locations: Acupuncture & Oriental Arts; Citibank Wellness Center; Defined Fitness; Enhanced Wellness; High Desert Yoga; Kirtland Air Force Base; Langford Sports & Physical Therapy; Lovelace Hospital; Pro Gym; Starlet Dance Studio; Treehouse Center of Integrative Medicine; and Wild Oats Wellness Center.

During her spare time, Karen enjoys Hatha Yoga, walking, hiking, reading, writing, painting, rollerblading, and spending time with her teenage son and two cats.
